Alaskan Explorer and northerngirl.net is a visual journey of a nearly lifelong resident of Alaska. I am an avid naturalist and photographer who enjoys trekking into the backcountry and traveling while capturing these images for my own pleasure. Be it hiking, skiing, backpacking, or experiencing local ecosystems close to my home. I find spending time out in nature to be a spiritual experience for me.

Although I often sell my images as fine prints or for publication, I am not a full-time professional photographer. Rather I am a self-taught photographer whose main interest is nature and landscape photography. My work is influenced by legendary photographers like David Meunch and Ansel Adams.

It is through these images and pages I hope to share my passion and reverence for nature, its wild places, and my vision of the world. Thank you for your interest and I hope you have enjoyed celebrating nature's canvas through my eyes.

Why Alaska?

I'm a nearly lifelong Alaskan who ended up here as most tend to do - by means of the military. In this case, the good old US Air Force. Over the years I have come to have a love/hate relationship with the state. Lets face it, for a girl that worships the sun, the winters can be long and grueling. But it is home and its spirit burns within me. And right now, I don't see myself being anywhere else.
